Restful sleep is necessary for good mental and physical health. How much sleep you need varies from person to person. Most adults need 7 to 8 hours a night. But both how long you sleep and how well you sleep is important. If you are spending enough time in bed but wake up feeling tired or are very sleepy during the day, you may be one of the estimated 40 million Americans who have a sleep disorder. Fortunately, you don’t need to continue to be sleepy. Effective treatments are available for many common sleep disorders.
