Ultram(tramadol 50mg), Ultracet(tramadol 37.5mg, lacetaminophen 325mg), Ultram ER(100, 200, 300 mg tabs) are new non-narcotic pain medications (analgesic) that works at the narcotic receptor to reduce pain. It also increases the levels of certain neurotransmitters (serotonin and norepinephrine) in the brain and spinal cord that seem to decrease pain perception. It does not have any anti-inflammatory properties, and it has almost no addictive potential.
How is it taken?
It is typically taken in doses ranging from 50-100mg (1-2 tablets), up to four times daily.
What are the side effects?
Tramadol is very well tolerated when taken in appropriate doses. Occasionally, patients report sedation, nausea, or constipation. Seizures are a rare possibility usually at doses higher than 400mg per day. If you should develop any significant side effects, stop the medicine and call us the following business day to let us know.
If the side effects are severe, please contact us immediately or go to the nearest emergency room for an evaluation.
