Pedestrian hit in NE Portland dies of injuries

Crash happened at NE 82nd Ave. and NE Jonesmore St.

KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A male pedestrian -- who went hit by a car in Northeast Portland -- died due to his life-threatening injuries, police said on Tuesday.

Portland Police responded to the crash near the intersection of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Jonesmore Street shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arriving, authorities found an adult male laying on the ground with significant injuries from the crash. He was taken to a local hospital.

However, the pedestrian -- later identified as 58-year-old Charles Bergeron of Portland -- died.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

As authorities investigated the scene, Northeast 82nd Avenue was closed between Northeast Tillamook Street and Northeast Wasco Street for several hours.
