2 die in fiery crash, driver charged with DUII

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Two people died in a burning car after an alleged drunk driver hit them on S. Barlow Road in Clackamas County Thursday night.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said Vasilissa Kuzmin, 20, drove off the road and along the shoulder for about 200 feet before overcorrecting, crossing the center line and hitting the oncoming victims' car head-on.

The victim's car caught fire and while bystanders tried to get them out, they died in the car.

Kuzmin was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital where doctors reported her blood alcohol content was .21% -- the legal limit is .08%. She was later booked into the Clackamas County jail on charges of 2nd-degree manslaughter and DUII.

The victims have been identified as Naylor C. Joles, 65, of Oregon City and Robert Lough, 58, of Mt. Angel.

Anyone with information about Kuzmin's activities before the crash is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 503.723.4949.
