Crews rescue turtle, cat from Forest Grove fire

The fire was 'well-involved' when crews arrived

KOIN 6 News Staff - FOREST GROVE, Ore. (KOIN) -- Forest Grove firefighters battled a house fire in the 3200 block of Main Street late Tuesday night.

Crews arrived to find a "well-involved" fire, according to the fire department. No one was home, but several animals were inside.

Firefighters were able to save 3 of the 6 animals inside including a tortoise, a snake and a cat.

Charley Long was at a friend's house when the fire broke out at his house.

"Got the cat out, got my tortoise out, got my snake out," Long said. "Don't know what is going on with the 2 bearded dragons and the iguana."

While Long is happy to have some of his pets back, he said he's still wondering what could have started the fire.
