PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Two men were injured in an overnight, gang-related shooting in the Hazelwood neighborhood on Tuesday.
Officers responded to the 12000 block of SE Ash Street at 12:11 a.m. after residents reported a shooting and that two people had been struck. Officers found both gunshot victims, ages 29 and 54, and they were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said someone got out of the car and shot at the men as they were standing on the sidewalk. Authorities also said there's a good chance the men involved know each other.
"This is the 54th gang violence incident that's been investigated by the Gang Enforcement this year in comparison to 47 this time last year," Sgt. Chris Burley said.
In 2017, the Gang Enforcement Team investigated a total of 122 incidents.
An apartment suffered damage from gunfire, but no one else was injured. However, residents in the area are wondering when the violence is going to end.
A resident who didn't want to be named said, "This is basically cop central. The cops are always around this neighborhood. You see the Gang Team, the SERT Team, there are officers patrolling through."
The suspect is still at large.
Police are looking for more surveillance video. If you know anything about this incident, you're asked to call the Gang Enforcement Team.
