Lents residents hope to catch car prowler

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Southeast Portland couple is angry and afraid a man who tried to break into their car will do it again.

Ryan Bellamy's 1987 Toyota 4Runner isn't the flashiest or fanciest car on the road, but it's his "baby."

"I've rebuilt the engine and I've done everything to it," Bellamy said.

It was around 9 a.m. on Thursday when a man walked up to Bellany and Heather Anderson's Lents home and approached the 4Runner.

"[He] put his hood up, sunglasses on, pulled the strings, everything. Just jiggled the keys and got inside it," Bellamy said.

They feel like their neighborhood just isn't safe right now.

"To know that we're sitting here while somebody is going through our stuff, it's really quite frustrating," Anderson said.

They hope their home security video will help police or members of the community track down the person responsible.
