PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man suspected of trying to kidnap a 20-year-old woman remains at large after the incident happened early Thursday in Salem.
The woman was waiting for her father near the I-5 Market Street ramp after her car ran out of gas about 4 a.m.. The man stopped, offered to help her, then grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into his truck, police said.
A woman driving by noticed what was happening and yelled at them, which scared the suspect away. He drove off in a dark blue or black, beat-up 4x4 truck.
"Who do you think you are,?" Salem resident Mandy Krause said. "That's somebody's daughter, that's somebody's sister, that's somebody's best friend. Like, you're not messing with one person when you do something like that."
The suspect is described as white with dark brown hair, wearing a dark t-shirt, jeans and athletic shoes.
The woman provided enough information for a forensic artist to put a sketch together.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Oregon State Police at 503.375.3555.
