GEARHART, Ore. (KOIN) -- A decomposed hand was found by a retired police officer and his granddaughter on a beach in Clatsop County Friday night.
The hand was found around 8:45 p.m. along a Gearhart-area beach near the high tide line, the Oregon State Police said in a release.
The retired officer was walking with his 9-year-old granddaughter when they found the hand. They moved it more onto the beach to prevent it from washing back into the ocean.
No other body parts were found.
Next week the Clatsop County Medical Examiner will investigate the hand for more information.
