REDMOND, Ore. (AP) — The Deschutes County sheriff's office says deputies shot and killed a woman Tuesday night in Redmond.
The sheriff's office says the deputies were investigating suspicious circumstances about 10 p.m. and during contact with the woman they were fired upon. They returned fire and the woman was killed at the scene.
The shooting is being investigated by a major crimes team that includes the sheriff's office, Deschutes County district attorney's office, Bend and Redmond police, Oregon State Police, and the state medical examiner's office.

The mother of a 5-month-old baby told two Salem women her boyfriend smothered the boy at a Gladstone motel, one of the women told KOIN 6 News. Salem police confirmed the mother talked with police recently.
