Driver crashes pickup into Portland apartment living room

No one was injured

Jennifer Dowling KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A driver in a truck crashed into an apartment building in Southeast Portland early Saturday, sending broken glass inside a living room while a man and his 7-month pregnant wife were sleeping.

At first, when he woke up to the crash around 3 a.m., Peter Avelar said he thought someone at thrown something through his window. Then, when he went to the living room, he saw the truck and glass splattered all over the couch -- the same couch where he said his visiting mother had slept two weeks before.

"Had it been two weeks ago it would have been a completely different story," Avelar said.

Cosmo, the couple's dog, suffered minor injuries from the glass and debris. Avelar said a trip to the veterinarian revealed Cosmo was going to be OK.

"He was sleeping just right on the other side of this wall ... he was showered with debris and glass," Avelar said.

KOIN 6 News reached out to Portland Police but a police spokesperson said they didn't have a report available of the incident.

The crash happened at Southeast Caruthers and 49th.

KOIN 6 News will have more information on this story later in the day.
