Laurie Lewbowsky appointed to Vancouver City Council

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Fifty-six people applied, but after cutting down the list to 6 people for interviews, Vancouver has filled its empty city council seat.

On Monday, Vancouver appointed Laurie Lebowsky to city council. Lebowsky works as a planner for Clark County's Community Planning Department.

"We interviewed six exceptional candidates for the open seat. Each brought a unique set of strengths that would have been an asset to our council," said Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle in a press release. "Laurie did a great job responding to our questions and I look forward to her joining us on council."

Lebowsky will hold office until November when she could run again for election then.
