Teen crashes into pole after high-speed chase in Salem

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A teenage crashed into a telephone pole in residential Salem on Monday afternoon after Marion County deputies said she stole a car and led deputies on a police chase.

The 17-year-old girl was going at a high rate of speed, deputies said. She's now in custody at Marion County's Juvenile Detention Center.

There were no reported injuries.

Deputies made several attempts to stop the driver even using spike strips during those attempts.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. near Northeast Silverton Road and Northeast Williams Avenue.
