Arrested protesters make 1st court appearance

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Four people were arrested in Sunday's downtown Portland protests and some made their first appearance in a Multnomah County courtroom Monday afternoon.

Andrew Arbow and Jonathan Feit were arrested by Portland police and charged with 2nd-degree disorderly conduct.

Bryan Neyman faces 4 counts of 4th-degree assault and a 3rd-degree robbery charge and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The 4th person, Gregory Isaacson, received a federal citation for failing to comply with a lawful order.

Feit, 36, was arraigned on the charge. Arbow, 32, was given a "no complaint" on Monday, which essentially means the charge was dropped.

Members of the far-right group Patriot Prayer clashed with anti-fascists known as Antifa at dueling rallies at Terry Schrunk Plaza on the one-year anniversary of another similar clash. Both groups took to the sidewalk hurling insults, fireworks, rocks and bottles and occasionally engaging in fistfights and shoving.

Both police and protesters used pepper spray.

The initial protest was organized by Patriot Prayer, the group led by Vancouver's Joey Gibson who was also at the Sunday protest. The event was dubbed "Tiny's Freedom March" for Tusitala "Tiny" Toese, a native Samoan who has been arrested at least twice during protests.

Once that protest was announced, the other groups soon followed -- and what followed was a melee that ended with 4 people arrested.
