Aloha teen says man in van tried to grab her

ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man in a white work van attempted to grab a teenage girl as she walked home early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Deputies responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. to SW 185th Avenue and SW Farmington Road after the teen reported the incident.

She said 2 men in a white work van followed her as she walked home from the Albertsons store.

The teen described one man as a Caucasian in his early to mid-20s with blonde hair and blue eyes. The other was described only as a dark-skinned man.

According to authorities, the men offered the teen cigarettes and marijuana, which she declined. However, they continued to follow her in the van. At one point, the van pulled up close to her and one of the men reached out to grab her, authorities said.

The teen was able to run home and call 911.

Elizabeth Duran, a local parent in the neighborhood, said an incident like this is every parent's nightmare.

"I hope they are caught," she said. "I hope (for) justice. I hope it comes to that there's no children that are gonna be victims to that."

At this time, it's unclear if this incident is connected to similar incidents reported in Tigard on Jan. 3 and Jan. 11 -- both of which involved a similar vehicle.

Still, the possibility is scary for locals.

"Don't let your kids walk around alone," Dawn Schukman said. "Buddy system; don't walk alone."

If anyone has information regarding this incident, including relevant surveillance video, they're asked to call the non-emergency dispatch at 503.629.0111.
