WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (KOIN) -- A suspicious package left on a sidewalk caused a partial evacuation of the Washington County courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
First Avenue was closed between Main and Jackson in downtown Hillsboro while officials -- including a bomb squad -- investigated.
However, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said the "suspicious package" ended up being someone's lunch. It was a cooler in a bag that was left on a sidewalk near the courthouse.
Officials evacuated buildings to be safe, but as of 2 p.m., they said all county buildings have reopened to employees. The building will reopen to the public at 3 p.m.
The sheriff's office robot team assisted Hillsboro police with the incident. The Portland Police Bureau also dispatched a bomb squad to the scene.
