PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Tigard police officer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Clackamas County.
Ron Lee Wommack, an 18-year veteran of the Tigard Police Department, was placed on administrative leave after his March 4 arrest.
He was not on duty when he was arrested.
Wommack has a previous DUII conviction in Washington County from 2011. Tigard police said there was an investigation after that incident and Wommack was sanctioned.
Tigard Police Chief Kathy McAlpine released this statement about Wommack's recent arrest:
I would like to affirm that any matter that involves Tigard Police Department personnel and their ability to carry out their duties within the community is of utmost importance to me as Police Chief. An internal investigation is underway, in addition to the processes under the Oregon courts. You can be assured that a fair and truthful resolution will occur. I thank you for your continued trust."
