Man dies a week after Corvallis nail salon assault

Than Kim, 49, is being held on $3 million bail

KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- An Albany man is now being charged with murder after he assaulted a man in a Corvallis nail salon who died in a local hospital a week later, Corvallis Police said.

Than Kim, 49, is currently lodged in Benton County Jail on $3 million bail. He's charged, among other things, with murder after Mitch Dong passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis on Tuesday. He was originally charged with attempted murder, but that changed when Dong passed away.

Police said they responded to calls of an assault on Dec. 5 at the Corvallis Nails and Spa on 2321 NW Kings Blvd. Dong passed away a week later.

  • Reckless endangering
  • Fourth-degree assault
  • Pointing a firearm at another (x2)
  • Unlawful use of a weapon (x4)
  • First-degree assault (x3)
  • Attempt to commit crime
  • Murder
