ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN) -- A domestic disturbance turned into an hours-long standoff that ended with a 59-year-old man in custody on a weapons charge.
When police first arrived at the scene near SW 178th and Shaw in Aloha they discovered the man, Luther Alspach, was wanted on a weapons violation. He was also suspected of having explosives and other firearms.
Officials called in the SWAT unit and evacuated the apartment complex. Sgt. Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff's Office said residents heard loud bangs going off, but that "was our tactical negotiation team trying to get him to come out."
Alspach may face more charges.
A Washington woman says she returned home to learn that thieves had taken the 30-foot recreational vehicle that she and her daughter called home. Also missing were her dog, her cat and her turtle.
