PORTLAND, Ore. – A 24-foot transparent dome has taken root in Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square.
And a local hotel general manager is living inside it.
The dome is a re-creation of a hotel from the Kimpton's RiverPlace Hotel: a couch, computer, TV and even the manager's dog.
RiverPlace Hotel General Manager Ryan Kunzer said he's prepared to sleep inside the dome as well.
"I might have my noise canceling headphones," Kunzer told KOIN 6 News. "I'll at least have that available."
The manager admits this is ultimately a publicity stunt to get the word out about renovations at the hotel.
"Spectator[s] can witness all the complimentary Kimpton amenities the RiverPlace offers, firsthand," a news release touts.
As for Kunzer, he'll be living in the square until 7 p.m. Friday.
Several Clark County school districts closed again Wednesday due to the hazardous conditions.
City Hall will open at its regularly scheduled time, while the courthouse will not open until noon because of a delay in restoring power to the building.
Police are searching for a 9-year-old Gresham boy who ran away from home after an argument Tuesday night. Gresham Police reports officers are concerned because of the boy's young age and the cold weather.
