PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The owner of a treasured trumpet taken as he unpacked for a Pearl District gig got it back Tuesday night.
On Monday Caleb Denison talked to KOIN 6 News about the theft. Denison plays with popular bands such as the Decemberists and the Violent Femmes. He's also social-media savvy, and had taken to Facebook hoping someone would recognize the thief.
Portland police officers contacted the suspect near Southwest 4th Avenue and Washington Street after a witness reported seeing him there.
Police said the victim only wanted the trumpet back, and so the suspect gave the trumpet to police.
That trumpet has now been reunited with its owner.
