PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- You may have seen the ad for Cover Oregon. Many people think it's an Oregon tourism ad. No. It's about the Affordable Care Act.
Cover Oregon is an online marketplace where people can compare health care plans, roles and get financial help, a spokesperson told KOIN 6 News.
It's the first of three ads -- part of the $20 million in federal funds that will be used for outreach about Obamacare -- and spokespeople said the first ad is doing what it was intended to do.
"I think they're doing a good job in raising awareness. The next step is to really educate Oregonians about Cover Oregon and what it offers, what opportunities it offers," said Lisa Moroski.
They wanted the first ad to be intriguing, and people have responded by going to the website -- more than 53,00 web hits recently, most of them new visitors.
The agency that produced the spot is from Portland and the artists are local musicians.
Kelsey McCune will make his first court appearance Monday afternoon on charges he kidnapped and raped an Oregon City teenager, the daughter of one of his friends.
PGE crews are still working to repair a failed underground cable that caused a fire and power outage on Sunday, leaving a large portion of downtown Portland -- including City Hall -- in the dark.
District officials said the school would only close early if classrooms got too chilly.
Deputies say the suspect continued to fire a rifle until deputies arrived.
