KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Local celebrity Brian Kidd, best known as the Unipiper, was the latest victim of a porch pirate who stole packages from outside his Northeast Portland home.
Home security video shared on Facebook on Tuesday shows a man pulling up in a white van, walking up to the front door and carrying away a stack of boxes on Friday, Dec. 5 around 12:40 p.m.
"It's kind of one of those moments where you feel like you've been punched in the gut," Kidd said.
Kidd told KOIN 6 News the packages contained about $300 worth of supplies and gifts for his baby, who is due on Dec. 19.
He said amazon refunded the orders, but it's still frustrating to be the victim of a theft.
"It's very frustrating because this is a very busy season for me anyway," Kidd said. "I've got a baby coming in 6 days, so to take time out of my day to file a police report, figure out what's missing, call Amazon. It's a major inconvenience for me."
The suspect was driving a van that was previously reported stolen from Mark Adams Electric Inc. and that company's logo is still visible on the van.
Portland police are investigating the theft and Kidd has posted a note on his door asking delivery drivers to put packages out of view.
"In my case I was very fortunate because Amazon was able to refund all of those purchases, but just knowing this guy is out there and probably still stealing packages and doing this to other people, that doesn't sit well with me and I want to see him caught," Kidd said.
