KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A suspect fired in a gun into the air Saturday morning in front of a group of people waiting to enter the downtown Nike store and purchase the latest style of Air Jordans, police said.
Portland Police said officers responded to the report of gunfire shortly before 8:30 a.m. Officers learned that an occupant of a newer red Toyota Camry drove in front of the Nike store -- located at 638 SW 5th Ave. -- and fired a gun into the air.
The gunfire caused multiple people waiting in line to run in different directions, however, no injuries were reported.
According to witnesses, one of the people who ran from the crowd chased after the Camry. When the man got to the intersection near SW 4th Avenue and SW Washington Street, he fired multiple rounds from a handgun in the direction of the car.
Officers searched the area, but have not yet found the Camry or the occupants. The suspect who fired at the Camry has not been located either. However, officers did find evidence of gunfire including multiple bullet strikes to a building near SW 4th Avenue and Washington Street.
Based on the information learned, the Gang Enforcement Team responded to the location and assisted.
