TSA finds 5 lbs of pot in suitcase bound for Ohio

Port of Portland Police arrested James Bui

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The TSA recently intercepted a man who they say was trying to move more than 5 pounds of marijuana through the airport.

James Bui is charged with unlawful importing and/or exporting marijuana after being arrested by Port of Portland Police on December 6.

According to court documents, TSA agents found suspected marijuana inside Bui's luggage at the airport.

Bui admitted that the marijuana was his and that he was trying to export it out of Oregon to Ohio, according to jail and court documents. Bui also told police that he had transported pot out of the state on at least 15 other times and that he then sells the marijuana.

Bui has been released from custody. He appeared in court last week and pleaded not guilty.

Jail records show that Bui makes a living through "trimming jobs" and that he told jail staff that he primarily trims marijuana plants and he makes about $2,000 a month.
