'Social Change Cup' using soccer to help homeless youth

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Portland program is using street soccer to help homeless youths find their path.

Adam Lewis, the founder of Street Soccer Portland, is preparing for the first annual "Social Change Cup," which he hopes will shine a light on Portland's homeless youth problem.

"Whether that's completing high school, re-enrolling in a secondary education program, finding a place to call home or a family supporting job; we're using soccer to enable all of these people to take positive steps forward in their lives," Lewis said.

The tournament, put together with assistance from several sponsors, including the Portland Timbers, will happen out at Portland Futsal in Southeast Portland from June 1-3.
