Reports: Ducks' Taggart negotiating with Florida State

Ducks to play Boise State in Las Vegas Bowl on December 16

KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Multiple news outlets are reporting Oregon Ducks football coach Willie Taggart is in Arizona negotiating with officials for a similar job at Florida State University.

The Orlando Sentinel reports:
"FSU officials met with Oregon coach Willie Taggart in Arizona on Monday and the two sides are negotiating a deal that potentially could bring Taggart to Tallahassee, according to a source.The two sides hope to come to an agreement Monday night and a formal announcement of Taggart's hire could come as early as Tuesday."

On Friday, Taggart shot down rumors of interest in the Seminoles job. Asked if he planned to be the coach of the Ducks in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 16, Taggart said, "Why wouldn't I be?"

"So can we talk about the bowl game?" he asked, smiling. "I am the head football coach at the University of Oregon and I love our guys."
