Looking back: A year after Portland's historic snowfall

The snow system left 9-15 inches on Jan. 10, 2017

Joseph Dames and KOIN 6 News Staff - PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- On Wednesday, people in Portland can expect on-and-off rain and a low of 43 degrees. That's quite the difference from what we saw from the weather a year ago.

Wednesday is the snowversary of the big snow that hit the Portland area. The snow system left 9-15 inches. Depending on where you were, those numbers marked the highest snow fall since 2008 for some and as far back as 1995 for others.

The snowfall meant it wasn't a good day to take the car out. Instead, people headed outside to play and work.

"I got this far and like snow everywhere," one person said about the possibility of driving.

Regardless, the snow created a winter wonderland for many.

"It was big flakes, probably about the size of a dime," another person said, "it was coming down pretty good."
