Elise Haas joined KOIN 6 News in 2018, initially covering breaking news before honing her focus on investigative pieces. You can regularly catch her in-depth reports on the evening and nightly news, but she also serves as a fill-in anchor for various newscasts.
Throughout her career, Elise has made significant strides as an investigator. She’s unveiled corporate and government wrongdoings, exposed political scandals, and spotlighted legislative issues. Notably, she disclosed the ownership of the notorious squatter house and the controversial ties between La Mota, the second-largest cannabis company in Oregon, and Secretary of State Shemia Fagan, leading to Fagan’s resignation. Further demonstrating her commitment, she’s helped wire fraud victims reclaim $150,000 from JP Morgan Chase & Co.
Elise received her Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism and political Science from Loyola University Chicago. Her passion for investigative journalism started in Chicago with the NBC 5 Investigative Team in 2015. Following that, she practiced perfecting longer-form journalism at WGN-TV. From there, Elise reported and anchored in Pasco, Washington, where she covered national breaking news events like the emergency at the Hanford Nuclear Site after the tunnel collapse and the deadly school shooting at Freeman High south of Spokane.
Elise’s dedication to ethical journalism has earned her two regional Emmy nominations for investigative and breaking news reports.
