Joyce Ogirri joined KOIN News 6 as a reporter in August 2023. Joyce is very excited to move to the West Coast and bring you news that matters to you.

Before coming to Portland, Joyce worked in New York City as a Content Producer at WNBC-TV where she covered news around the Tri-State area.

Prior to NYC, Joyce worked as a Producer at WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut. One of her proudest accomplishments is helping produce the highly watched half-hour Black History Month Special and lifestyle show, CT Style.

She also worked in Fort Myers, Florida at WBBH-TV and WZVN-TV as a Producer. Prior to that, she spent time as a Multimedia Journalist in Springfield, Massachusetts and worked as a Reporter in news talk radio and public broadcasting in Hamden, Connecticut. She started her career at the PBS Affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Joyce holds a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. During her time at Syracuse, she covered the 2008 New Hampshire presidential primary, and discovered her love of politics. She has a dual degree in Communications and Spanish from the University of Pittsburgh.

Joyce is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She is proud of her Dominican and Nigerian heritage.

In her spare time, Joyce loves traveling, dancing, watching sports and movies, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
