PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Former actor turned life coach Randy Spelling has found his home, and his calling, in the Sellwood neighborhood.
Randy grew up in a famous family as the son of the late Aaron Spelling, one of Hollywood’s most prolific producers.
However, despite the wealth and fame, Randy decided to leave Los Angeles several years ago to move to Portland.
“One day I was in my doctor’s office and I looked at a picture of the Willamette and the sun was going down and it was just a really idyllic day,” he tells KOIN 6 during a visit to his home.
“I had all of that, I had everything money could buy, and still I wasn’t fulfilled, I didn’t feel like I was living my life with purpose, how I wanted to,” Randy says.
Randy set up his life coaching practice in his Sellwood home where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
He just released a book called Unlimiting You.
“I did choose to use myself as a main character in my book, to illustrate some of the points I’m making,” he says.
In the book, Randy encourages readers to realize their own limitations to step out of the past.
“Life coaching is really meant to take where someone is presently… hear their goals, what they want to work on and improve and help them make those changes.”
Randy is speaking on Friday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at the New Renaissance Bookshop on NW 23rd Ave.
