PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Ken Burns, who has been called America’s Filmmaker, focused his attention on country music for his soon-to-be-released film.
Burns came to the KOIN 6 News studio Tuesday along with producer Julie Dunfey to talk about “Country Music,” a project that took his team years to complete.
“Country Music” documents the roots and origins of the genre in America over 8 parts and 16 hours.
“What happens is we take a long time,” Burns said. “Nobody else except public broadcasting would say, ‘Sure, take 8 years to do Country Music.'”
The film premieres on PBS stations September 15.
KOIN 6 News will have more with Ken Burns as the premiere of “Country Music” draws near.
