PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland has a small army of independent movie theaters that bring a variety of new and classic films to movie buffs.

Now there’s a new theater for big cult classics in a micro-sized space.

Movie Madness, the popular video store run by the Hollywood Theater, showed KOIN 6 its new screening room.

The 18-seat theater will show movies in any format with state-of-the-art sound.

“We’ve got the capacity to watch VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays, you could even come hook up your 16-millimeter projector and watch those,” Joe Bolenbaugh with Movie Madness said. “All the way up to 4k HD with Dolby Atmos sound. This room can do it all.”

Two years ago, the not-for-profit Hollywood Theater raised money to take over Movie Madness. The screen room was built with extra money raised during the campaign.

Public screenings will start soon and next year Movie Madness will offer four-week classes to learn about cinema.
