PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Aron Nels Steinke grew up reading comic books about superheroes.

As an adult, he spends his days teaching at Woodstock Elementary school in the Portland area and drawing inspiration from his students for his series of graphic novels.

Aron and his wife received an Eisner Award for their book The Zoo Box in 2015. The sequel to his acclaimed Mr. Wolf’s Class, called Lucky Stars hit bookstore shelves this fall.

For this week’s Writers’ Block podcast Aron talks to Jenny Hansson about how he started writing, drawing anthropomorphs and receiving notes from his students about farts.
