PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Many people have adopted a furry family member from the Oregon Humane Society and might be looking to give back.
KOIN 6 and Portland’s CW hosted a Day of Giving for the Oregon Humane Society on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

The year has been full of challenges for people and pets, and a donation to the Oregon Humane Society helps this organization continue its lifesaving work by helping pets find a new forever home, providing critical medical care for sick and injured animals, rescuing animals from cruelty and neglect, deploying staff members to assist with disasters, and helping pets and their humans stay together.
Despite the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oregon Humane Society is still serving pets and people in a variety of ways, including adoptions-by-appointment, assisting other shelters around Oregon, and supporting a foster home system for pets recovering from surgery, illness or are too young to be adopted.
Every dollar donated during Wednesday’s Day of Giving will be doubled thanks to the Oregon Humane Society’s generous partners. A gift of $50 feeds 28 shelter pets for a day, while a gift of $300 supports the organization’s emergency animal rescue team. If you were to donate $500, that money could provide medical care for two injured pets, while a $1,000 gift would transport 25 pets from smaller shelters.
