PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 54-year-old man is accused of dining-and-dashing before returning to the bar in a different vehicle after slamming into a Mercedes and boat in a driveway.
Robert Scott Binder began his night at Mai Wah’s Restaurant, 18088 SE McLoughlin Boulevard, around 7 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said. At some point he got into his silver Mazda and took off without paying.
Around 9:23 p.m., residents at a home in the 18100 block of Sun Meadow Court in Milwaukie called police after a driver in a silver Mazda just backed into his Mercedes van and pushed it into a ski boat in their driveway. Both were seriously damaged, and officials said, the Mercedes had just been purchased 2 days before.
The Mazda driver took off.
Binder then returned to Mai Wah’s restaurant, only this time in a Ford F-150. At 10:38 p.m. the bar cut him off and then Binder tried to leave, authorities said. Witnesses tried to stop him from getting behind the wheel.
But he put his Ford F-150 in reverse, then into drive and drove onto a curb in front of the restaurant. Officials said he also revved his engine after he put the truck into park.
Deputies arrived, connected the 2 incidents and arrested Binder for DUII. Authorities also towed both his Mazda and the Ford F-150.
