Family safe, 4 cats rescued from Sandy garage fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Firefighters rescued four cats from a garage fire Tuesday morning in Sandy.

The fire started in a garage at a home in the 38000 block of Redwood Street just before 9 a.m., according to the Sandy Fire Department.

Crews safely evacuated the family and went to work on the fire. The homeowner told firefighters her four cats were trapped inside.

All four were eventually found and given oxygen via a pet mask.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
