PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Sandy High School student was arrested on Thursday for allegedly posting a school shooting threat on social media.
The 16-year-old student was interviewed and taken into custody by school resource officers, according to Sandy police.
The alleged threat was brought to the attention of Ohio State Police after a post was made on Tik Tok discussing a school shooting.
Ohio State Police alerted authorities in Clackamas County after tracing the post to an IP address registered to the Clackamas Education Service District.
Additional information was used to trace the post to the 16-year-old student, who was taken to the Clackamas County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center on a charge of 1st-degree disorderly conduct.
The teen is expected to be released to his or her parents since officers said they determined the student doesn’t have access to weapons. Officers concluded there’s nothing to suggest the threat was ever credible.
