PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A teenager was hit by a car after getting off a school bus Friday afternoon.

Milwaukie Police were called out to a crash involving a pedestrian at SE Wood Avenue and SE Park Street. When they arrived, they discovered that a Clackamas Middle College school bus had stopped just past SE Wood Ave on SE Park St to let out a student. The 16-year-old got off the bus using the rear exit and ran out to cross SE Wood Ave, said police.

A car was driving south on that same street at the same time, going approximately 30 mph. The driver told police that he didn’t see the teenager until shortly before impact.

Both the driver and the pedestrian stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation, said police.

The side of the front bumper hit the pedestrian and left a bruise on his right leg. He was released after a medical evaluation.

Police have not issued any citations at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
