Body in Columbia River ID’d as Vancouver bicyclist

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The body of a man found in the Columbia River in the Tidewater Cove area Monday evening was identified as a missing Vancouver man last seen on June 27.

Leif Vigeland’s bike was found at Wintler Park on Beach Drive on Saturday, but he wasn’t seen since he left his East Vancouver home on Thursday.

The Vancouver Fire Department said a boat was called to reports of a body in the water and their crew helped recover the body.

The Clark County Medical Examiner said Vigeland’s body was found July 1 but did not say how he died. He was 36.
