PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A cyclist was hit by a car Friday afternoon in Hazel Dell, said Clark County Sheriff’s deputies.

Emergency responders got the call reporting a crash just before 3 p.m. on NE Hazel Dell Avenue, south of NE Anderson Street. At the scene, they found a 14-year-old boy who had been hit by a Ford F250 pickup.

The teen was immediately taken to a local hospital with traumatic injuries. The full extent of those injuries are unknown.

Roadway evidence, combined with witness and driver statements revealed that the bicyclist had been on the sidewalk, when he rode his bike “suddenly into the path of the southbound truck,” said the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities also said the teen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, said the CCSO. No charges have been filed at this time. CCSO Traffic Detectives are investigating this incident.
