Teen strikes man with handgun in Vancouver assault

The group of teens fled before police arrived

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A man was struck in the head with a gun by a teenager in Vancouver Friday evening, said police.

A man confronted a group of teens in the area of SE 141st Street around 8 p.m. An argument started, and escalated to the point where one teen pulled out a hand gun and hit the man in the head with it, according to Vancouver Police.

The group of teenagers then fled as the police were called out to the scene of the assault.

The man who had been hit suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. His identity was not released.

Residents described a heavy police presence that covered the neighborhood for a couple of hours.

Residents said police in SWAT gear told them to lock their doors. Some told KOIN 6 News that police were swarming the area earlier, combing through lawns with their SWAT gear on.

Vancouver Police did not release any information in regards to an arrest, and the area was cleared of police presence around 10:30 p.m.
