Woman critically hurt in Salem house fire

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — Firefighters rescued an unconscious woman from a house fire early Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly before 1:00 a.m. near Rosemont Avenue NW, and Plaza Street NW, according to the Salem Fire Department. Crews arrived within three minutes and a resident told them a woman was in the basement.

Firefighters said they found her unconscious, suffering from smoke inhalation and second degree burns. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

There were no working smoke detectors in the house, according to authorities. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
