Salem middle schooler says strange man chased her home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Extra security guards and deputies will be at a Salem middle school on Thursday after a girl said she was chased home by a strange man.

The 11-year-old student at Adam Stephen’s Middle School told deputies she was walking home with some friends on Wednesday afternoon when she noticed a man walking behind them.

She said the man chased her after she left the group to walk down her street to her home.

The girl was able to reach the house and lock herself inside, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. She told her family what had happened when they got home.

The man was described as a thin black adult in his 40s or 50s, about 6 feet tall with blond- or gold-tipped braided hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a plain white shirt and black ripped jeans.

Officials said there will be more deputies in the area as well as extra security guards from the Salem-Keizer School District at Adam Stephen’s Middle School on Thursday.
