PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — On Thursday afternoon a Search and Rescue team was sent out to reach a group of hikers on the Whitewater Creek Trail that included a woman experiencing a complication from a prior medical issue.

The hiking group is reportedly miles away from the trailhead. The Search and Rescue ground team reached them shortly after midnight and stayed with them through the night.

Morning riders will head out Friday morning to meet the group and help them to get back out of the forest.
