PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two Portland Fire & Rescue firefighters were hurt when the floor collapsed at a fully-involved house fire in Southeast Portland in the early hours of Saturday.

The 2-alarm blaze at 2404 SE 89th Avenue engulfed the front of the house and the garage. The firefighters were hurt when the floor partially collapsed and were rescued quickly by other firefighters. Both were examined at the scene, then taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

PF&R spokesperson Ron Rouse said a second alarm is “always called when a firefighter is injured to get extra resources at the scene.” Rouse told KOIN 6 News the firefighters should be OK.

Fire crews also had to work around downed power lines.

No one was at home at the time of the incident and a cause has not yet been determined.
