PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An organization that helps those who are homeless is opening their nex healthcare center on East Burnside.
The Blackburn Center provides health care, housing and employment services for people impacted by homelessness. The National Health Care for the Homeless Council said they hope the Blackburn Center will serve as a potential model of holistic care for other states to consider replicating.
This is an effort to get more people off the streets and into positions where they can do better. There are treatments for those with an opioid addicition or suffering with Hepatitits C. There is also transitional and permanent recovery housing.
A number of speakers will help in the dedication at 2:30 p.m., including Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury.
The Blackburn Center is located at 12121 E. Burnside in Portland.
