PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Climate activists rallied outside Portland City Hall Friday afternoon, causing some traffic delays and a lockdown of the building.
Dozens of people holding signs about extinction and the climate emergency blocked SW 4th Avenue for several hours.
Demonstrators also attached signs that say “It’s time to …..” on a fence with messages encouraging sustainable behaviors like “go vegan” and “save the trees”
There was also a tent, firetruck and trailer with a garden set up in the middle of the road.
Portland police tweeted there was minimal traffic impact and the demonstration has remained peaceful.
