PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A fire broke out in a Southeast Portland home Wednesday morning — partially destroying it.
Crews responded to the 12800 block of Southeast Claybourne Street around 9:30 a.m.
Fire officials said the blaze started in the attached garage and crews were able to contain it, so it didn’t spread to other parts of the home.
Chopper video showed heavy plumes of smoke coming from the home.
According to officials, the garage is a total loss. Firefighters also reported several small explosions — likely from aerosol cans or other smaller pressurized canisters.
As crews fought the fire, part of the garage collapsed, but no firefighters were inside at that time.
While all occupants of the house were able to get out safely, 2 dogs were trapped. Fortunately, firefighters were able to rescue the dogs.
No injuries were reported. Investigators are on scene now to determine the cause of the fire.
