PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — We’re often reminded to shop local. In Portland, there’s also an incentive.

Little Boxes — now in its 8th year — helps people find great deals on independent retailers and offbeat local places in the days after Thanksgiving. And with the Little Boxes app, you can get those deals and enter to win some great prizes.

First, download the app, then sign up for the prize raffle. Visit the shops on the list — as many as you want, because a visit to a listed store is equal to 1 ticket. If you buy something at one of the shops, you’ll get bonus entries.

There are hundreds of participating shops in Little Boxes, scattered all over the Portland metro: Alberta, Beaumont, Beaverton-Tigard, Central Eastside, Division-Clinton, Downtown-West End, East Burnside, Foster-Powell, Goose Hollow, Hawthorne-Belmont, Mississippi-Williams, Montavilla-East Tabor, Northeast Broadway, Northwest, Old Town, Pearl District, Portland International District, Sellwood and St. Johns.

The grand prize is a dream vacation valued at $2000. But there are a lot of other prizes, too.

So, if you’re going to shop, shop local. And if you’re shopping local, think about Little Boxes as a way to find cool spots.
